  • Brisbane Flocculation

    Brisbane Flocculation

    Brisbane Flocculation Products

Superflocc Gypsum products that we stock in most major cities including Brisbane are made from ultra fine natural gypsum powder.

The ground gypsum can be mixed with water and applied via irrigation (flood, drip), spread aerially, or added to dams for flocculation (to reduce water turbidity) and many other applications.

SuperFlocc Gypsum is used regularly to flocculate turbid water in construction dams & sediment ponds before it is released.  The product is all natural, safe to handle and safe on the environment.

Whilst the Superflocc gypsum products need to be mixed with water, they are more concentrated and faster reacting than the pre-mixed liquid gypsum products available for flocculation.

  • 2020 Harvest & 2021 Forecast

    2020 Harvest & 2021 Forecast

Grain growers in northern New South Wales and southern Queensland are working around the clock to harvest winter crops before the pesky summer storms.

The patchy storm events have growers frantically harvesting crops, as a lot is riding on this harvest after years of drought. It is the first decent crop since 2016, but a wet harvest could tarnish the well over due strong finish to the winter cropping season.

After a wheat crop of just 1.7 million tonnes last year,  ABARES (private forecasters) are predicting up to 12m tonnes of wheat this year.

Big numbers are also predicted for the 20/21 summer cropping season:

    • Forecasted area planted to summer crops in 2020–21 is forecast to rise by 194% to around 1 million hectares, 11% below the 10-year average to 2019–20 of 1.2 million hectares. This forecast increase reflects the favourable outlook for seasonal conditions during spring, favourable grain sorghum prices and the availability of fallow land in summer cropping regions (ABARES)
    • Forecasted area planted to cotton is forecast to rise by 300% in 2020–21 to 239,000 hectares, 40% below the 10-year average to 2019–20. Area planted to irrigated cotton is forecast to rise due to a significant increase in the supply of irrigation water. Area planted to dryland cotton is forecast to increase significantly to 66,000 hectares, which reflects the favourable outlook for seasonal conditions in spring. Increasing area planted to rice and grain sorghum is expected to constrain the increases in area planted to irrigated and dryland cotton (ABARES)
    • Forecasted area planted to rice is forecast to increase by 392% to around 27,000 hectares because of higher water allocations compared to the drought affected allocations in the last two years.
  • Agriflex Phosphate Rock

    Agriflex Phosphate Rock

Centrex metals have been developing a phosphate mine not far from Incitec’s remote FNQ Phosphate Hill operations.

The project aims to supply phosphate rock products for fertiliser manufacture, but also products for direct application to land (DARP).

The DARP products will be sold via Centrex Phosphate Rock banner Agriflex.

When the mine is finally producing suitable rock phosphate products and Pacific Fertiliser aims to refine and blend the ardmore phosphate product into our blends to increase the phosphorous content, without sacrificing too much solubility (at both Brisbane & Cowra plants).

  • EM Soil Mapping

    EM Soil Mapping

Using EM mapping equipment is a great way to identify soil constraints and issues.

Ground-based electromagnetic surveys (EM) and radiometric surveys are a relatively fast way to map your paddocks.

Information from these surveys can then be used to assist in ground truthing the data to provide correction measures for the soil/paddocks.

EM surveys measure apparent soil electrical conductivity (ECa), which is a indirect measure of salinity, and an indicative measurement of soil texture and moisture. Higher EM readings during a survey come from more moisture, clay or salts.

Most agricultural EM surveys now use dual-EM, which combine the ECa readings from two depths of 0.5m and 1.5m.

Pacific Fertiliser has soil mapping equipment, but we also have high tech spreaders capable of using variable rate maps from EM surveys for ameliorant application to treat issues found from the dual-EM surveys and ground truthing.
