  • Its Time to Lime

    Its Time to Lime

ITS TIME TO START ORGANISING YOUR AG LIME FOR NEXT SEASON

PACIFIC FERTILISER can assist with Soil Mapping, Ag Lime Supply & Spreading.

Often in the new year Ag Lime supply will get tight. It is better to get organised and get your soil tests or soil mapping completed before the end of the year to enable you to order the Ag lime in December or Early Janurary.

Using the latest Veris mapping trailer we can map your paddocks to provide a variable rate application map for our spreaders which vary the application rate of Ag Lime to match your soils varying pH levels.

The mapping trailer also collects data on EC, Organic matter and Topography building a valuble asset for you to build on in the future with NDVI and yield data etc.

Pacific Fertiliser can supply High Calcium Limestone products in bulk & bagged and in product variants from ultra fine powder through to granulated & prilled lime.

Ag Lime is a soil conditioner made from pulverised limestone (calcium carbonate). Its main use in agricultural and civil applications is to correct soil pH.

Ag Lime is generally used to increase soil pH, which can increase crop yields among a wide range of soil conditions. Ag Lime is often used to improve the physical structure of the soil by reducing surface crusting, increasing water retention, and reducing soil erosion. Lime treatment helps crops to better tolerate drought and/or wet conditions by increasing both root penetration and water percolation through the soil.

  • Incitec Fertiliser Business Up for Sale

Incitec Fertiliser Business Up for Sale

Australian fertiliser and explosives maker Incitec Pivot will review its local fertiliser arm (IPF) that could lead to its sale, wto appease long suffering” shareholders.

Investors have cheered a possible divestment of Incitec Pivot’s Australian fertiliser business, in the belief it could help the manufacturer avoid a credit rating downgrade and claw back ground lost to its major rival Orica. A common origin links the manufacturing of explosives and fertilisers, as both begin with natural gas being turned into ammonia, which is an intermediate product for both fertilisers and explosives. Orica has travelled a similar path in the past.

Analysts suggested the fertiliser business could be an ideal fit for the Perth-based conglomerate Wesfarmers, which owns the dominant CSBP fertiliser business in WA. While those in the industry have also speculated Nutrien could be interested.

Incitec Pivot provides about two million tonnes of fertilisers to Australian agriculture each year through domestic manufacturing and imposts. IPFs Phosphate Hill (Dutchess) and Gibson Island (Brisbane Port) plants in Queensland turn ammonia into fertiliser products like urea, diammonium phosphate (DAP) and monoammonium phosphate (MAP). Incitec’s Moranbah plant in Queensland turns ammonia into the ammonium nitrate used by mining companies for blasting explosives. Incitec’s flagship Waggaman plant in the US produces ammonia for both explosives and fertiliser streams, but is currently not part of the review, which is apparently focused exclusively on Incitec’s Asia-Pacific fertiliser business.

Elders boss Mark Allison says there is potential for a national fertiliser business to emerge from the likely break up of Incitec Pivot’s assets. He said the blending facilities could help Elders fill a gap in its ability to service tropical horticulture and sugar cane growers on the east coast.

Back in September 2018 BGH went as far as to ask Incitec for a closer look at the fertiliser business, with the goal of firming up and funding an offer. It’s easy to see the attraction for a private equity owner. Incitec’s unit has a strong presence in the Australian market with its own manufacturing and distribution footprint.

  • Potassium Nitrate

    Potassium Nitrate

Potassium Nitrate fertiliser is a high quality source of both potassium and nitrogen, two essential primary nutrients for plants. Since a healthy growth requires large amounts of nitrogen and potassium, these elements have to be applied to the soil regularly.

Nitrogen and Potassium greatly assist plants growth and filling fruit cells to maximise fruit size.  Plants with ideal levels of potassium are generally hardier and more resistant to stress than potassium deficient plants.

Pot Nitrate is a fully water soluble nitrogen and potassium fertiliser. It is a free flowing, fine crystalline powder which dissolves quickly in water without any residues. It is suited to application through all fertigation systems – drip systems, low throw sprinklers, centre pivots and spray units.

    Benefits of Pot Nitrate:
    – High grade water soluble form of potassium and nitrate
    – Excellent fertiliser for fruiting crops and vegetables to assist with filling
    – High analysis fertiliser with a low salt index and no harmful substances
    – Great for foliar and fertigation applications
    – Suitable for crops that are chlorine-sensitive

    General Application Rates:
    Vegetables: 25-200kg/ha
    Fruit Trees:100-150kg/ha

The actual rate, total applications and timings will vary considerably for different crops and locations.
Understand your soil nutrient levels and conduct a soil and/or leaf test prior to applications and always consult an experienced agronomist before use.

Note: – avoid soil compaction caused by long-term application of potassium sulphate.

Manufacturers typically make potassium nitrate fertilizer (KNO3 sometimes referred to as nitrate of potash or NOP by reacting potassium chloride (KCl) with a nitrate source. Depending on the objectives and available resources, the nitrate may come from sodium nitrate, nitric acid or ammonium nitrate.

  • Calcium Nitrate

    Calcium Nitrate

Calcium Nitrate based fertilisers combine fast acting nitrate nitrogen alongside strength-building calcium, designed for high value quality field crops to improve the size, strength, appearance and importantly marketable yield.

Pacific Fertiliser calcium nitrate fertilisers produce better fruits and vegetables. Nitrate nitrogen is the source preferred by fruits and vegetables, which is readily available to plants and the calcium helps strengthen cell walls. Nitrogen and Calcium are very important plant nutrients that greatly assist plant cell growth, optimising leaf health and growth and neutralises acids to enable the plant to detoxify. Tree’s with ideal levels of Calcium post-harvest set up well for increased flower formation the following year.

Cal Nitrate is widely used in the agricultural market as a high-end water soluble fertiliser. This product can be used for foliar, fertigation or side dressing applications.

    Benefits of Calcium Nitrate:
    • High analysis water soluble form of Calcium and Nitrogen
    • Readily available for a quick plant uptake
    • Excellent fertiliser for plant cell formation
    • Promotes protein production and healthy leaf growth
    • Can help to reduce the severity of blossom end rot
    • Neutralises acids to detoxify plants
    • Not temperature dependant
    • Does not contain heavy metals or damaging chlorides

    General Directions for Use:
    Vegetables: 25-200kg/ha
    Fruit Trees: 100-150kg/ha
Foliar Rate: General foliar rates are at a concentration of 1-2%
Top dress post-harvest or before flowering formation
The actual rate, total applications and timings will vary considerably for different crops and locations.
Understand your soil nutrient levels and conduct a soil and/or leaf test prior to applications and always consult an experienced agronomist before use.
