  • Summer Update

    Summer Update

Most growers are in for a wet finish.

On the fertiliser price forecast there isn’t too much good news either, as prices continue to rise and supply tightens.

Energy and shipping cost increases, coupled with a lack of supply are keeping fertiliser prices at historical highs.

If you are looking for your 2022 winter crop fertiliser options, you should start considering your options and procurement timing. Securing volume and pricing for next year is providing headaches for the whole supply chain.

Due to the increased fertiliser prices, we are seeing a lot of customers looking for alternative products and blends to maximise yields without putting too much strain on the budget.

Pacific Fertiliser can provide straight fertilisers, tailored fertiliser blends (granular or powder) with additives including trace elements, carbon, humates, manures and liquid additives such as biology, wetting agents and other chemicals.

Pacific Fertiliser has volumes of straight fertiliser products available now and for next season from most eastern ports. Please contact us for pricing and availability.

    Fertiliser Outlook:

At this stage it’s hard to predict pricing for next year, but with supply looking very tight for the majority of products used in Australia, prices will remain firm.

We see the biggest issue being whether next seasons required volumes will be covered with the current global product and supply constraints.

  • Spring Fertiliser Update

    Spring Fertiliser Update

Most regions are experiencing a good (to damp) season, with all hoping for a strong finish to winter grains and a good start for summer crops & cotton.

If you hadn’t noticed, there has been a rapid increase in fertiliser prices this year, due to strong demand in global ag markets, increases in raw material prices and ongoing logistical challenges due to COVID-19, which has put pressure on international supply chains.

If you are looking for spring or summer crop fertiliser options, you should start considering your options and procurement timing. Due to the increased fertiliser prices, we are finding a lot of customers looking for blends and alternatives this year to maximise yields without putting too much strain on the budget.

  • High Fertiliser Prices

    High Fertiliser Prices

You may be wondering what is driving the recent increases in fertiliser prices?

Strong demand in key global agricultural markets, an increase in raw material prices and ongoing logistical challenges due to the COVID-19, have put pressure on international supply chains which have all lead to a rapid increase in fertiliser prices. Sea Freight rates alone have increased by ~300% over the past 12 months.

    • Urea pricing softened a little last week, but supply remains a big issue which will keep pricing high;
    • MAP/DAP pricing continues to rise and is forecasted to remain strong for sometime;
    • SSP/DSP/TSP – pasture phosphate product pricing continues to rise on the back of rising production costs and tight supply.

Current fertiliser pricing is at a 10 year high.

As fertiliser in Australia becomes expensive and in tight supply, growers will look for fertiliser alternatives. One of those is a common fertiliser, super phosphate (SSP) or Superfect.

With an analysis of  0-9-0-11 it is a low analysis fertiliser, but with phosphorous and sulphur it is a versatile product.

    Alternatives for Single Super are:

    • Rock Phosphate (including soft rock phosphate fertiliser and apatite fertiliser)
    • Phosphate Rock blends
    • Guano
    • Guano Blends (including Guano+SOA, Guano+Sulphur)
    • MAP fertiliser 10-22-0-2 (at a low application rate if your crop can handle some nitrogen)
    • Pasture Blend Fertiliser (5-18-0-10)  – Pacific Fertiliser pasture blend
    • StarterPhos Blend (11-18-0-10) – equivalent to the old Goldphosphate fertiliser
    • Triple Super  Sulphur (0-18-0-10 through to 0-16-0-20 with extra sulphur bentonite blended)
    • Double Super (0-16-0-5 through to 0-13-0-17 with extra sulphur bentonite blended)

When manufactured fertilisers are expensive or in tight supply, mineral phosphate fertilisers such as soft rock phosphate and guano become more attractive. These mineral fertiliser products can be blended to provide alternatives to main stream fertilisers and include other benefits like calcium, silica and neutralising effects. Mineral Fertiliser Products like:

    • RP Sustain (0-6-0-6) – SRP Sustain consists of domestic soft rock phosphate blended with gypsum (all natural)
    • SRP SustainES (0-8-0-11) – SRP Sustain ES consists of domestic soft rock phosphate blended with elemental sulphur
    • Guano SG (0-13-0-11) – Guano Sulphur Gold consists of imported guano blended with elemental sulphur
    • Guano SOA (7-9-0-8) – Guano blended with Sulphate of Ammonia
    • BioAgPhos S10 (0-11-0-10) – S10 BioAgPhos consists of imported phosphate rock blended with elemental sulphur

Pacific Fertiliser can provide phosphate fertilisers straight or in blends in both air seeder or aerial grades.
